HR consulting
We prepare the equal pay position of your company: objective evaluation of the jobs, pay register, pay audit and an equality plan negotiated and ready to be registered. We work on the state, regional and provincial collective agreements that coexist in Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, Araba and Navarra, and we coordinate the result with your employment administration.
What's included
- Job evaluation manual with documented factors, weightings and scores
- Pay register with the values broken down by sex, professional group and jobs of equal value
- Pay audit with the diagnosis of the differences found and their objective justification
- Diagnostic report on equality and the setting up and coordination of the negotiating committee
- Equality plan drafted, with objectives, measures, timetable and indicators, in a condition to be registered
- Protocol against harassment and discrimination, and training for the people responsible for applying it
Job evaluation
Every pay review starts with knowing what each job contributes. We carry out an objective evaluation in line with equal pay criteria, with documented factors, weightings and scores, so that the company can explain why two different jobs are paid differently. The result gives objectivity to pay policy, supports internal and external fairness, makes it possible to link the responsibilities of each job to the company’s objectives and makes decisions on pay bands and promotions easier.
Pay register and pay audit
We accompany you through the pay obligations from beginning to end: we gather the salary information, we draw up the register with the values broken down by sex, professional group and jobs of equal value, we analyse the inequalities that appear and we define the action needed to correct those that have no objective cause. The register describes the situation; the audit explains why it is as it is and what has to change, with a timetable attached.
Equality plan
When your company is required to negotiate an equality plan, or decides to do so voluntarily, we cover the whole process: training and advice on applying the rules, diagnostic report, setting up and coordination of the negotiating committee, drafting of the plan with specific objectives and measures, and preparation of the protocols against discrimination and against harassment. The document is delivered in a condition to be submitted for registration, not as a draft that someone will have to finish.
Collective agreements in the Basque Country and Navarra
In the Basque Country and Navarra, state, regional and provincial collective agreements coexist, and the personal income tax (IRPF) withholding on the payroll is governed by the foral rules of Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, Araba or Navarra, not by the state ones. Establishing the applicable agreement and the corresponding foral table is the first step in any pay work: a comparison built on the wrong agreement will not hold up an audit.
Coordinated with your employment administration
The data that feed a pay register come from the payroll. When the employment administration sits within the same group, the register is built from the company’s real and up-to-date information, without asking you to reconstruct it by hand in spreadsheets. We work from our Bilbao offices with companies across the four foral regimes.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between the pay register and the pay audit?
- The register sets out the average values of salaries, supplements and non-salary payments broken down by sex and professional group: it describes the situation. The pay audit goes further and analyses whether those differences have objective causes; where they do not, it defines the corrective measures that are built into the equality plan.
- What is the point of evaluating jobs?
- To be able to compare pay between jobs of equal value on a defensible basis. Without a documented evaluation, the company cannot show why two different jobs are paid differently, which is precisely what it will be asked for in a pay audit.
- Who negotiates the equality plan?
- A negotiating committee with representatives of the company and of the workforce. We produce the prior diagnosis, we coordinate the setting up of the committee and we draft the document until it is in a condition to be submitted for registration.
- Does the state agreement or the provincial one apply?
- In the Basque Country and Navarra, state, regional and provincial collective agreements coexist, and the IRPF withholding on the payroll is governed by the foral rules of Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, Araba or Navarra, not by the state ones. Identifying the applicable agreement is the first step in any pay work.
